Not since the Rolling Stones were seen wearing the creation of J. Sparkes-Hall (Queen Victoria’s bootmaker back in 1837, credited with creating the Chelsea boot) has this staple of a gent’s wardrobe seen such a resurgence.

This season the boot is going through a renaissance with designers and brands from catwalks to the British high street eschewing the traditional black leather in favour of new textures and fabrics, while retaining the items’ original swag.

For me the Chelsea boot is are functional, all-purpose and comfortable. Just always remember the golden rule with Chelsea boots: keep the trouser or jeans skinny.

Some of my favourites I’ve seen this season are ……
Common Projects – Suede Chelsea Boot £310

ASOS Chelsea Boot £60

Loake Charsworth Chelsea Boot £180
